Butyl Acrylate
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Butyl Acrylate is a clear, volatile monomer liquid essential for the production of acrylic resins and high-performance emulsion polymers. It features a 99.5% minimum purity level, ensuring consistent polymerization rates and high-quality end-product clarity.
As a versatile building block, it provides excellent flexibility and weather resistance to coatings, adhesives, and sealant formulations. It is typically supplied with hydroquinone monomethyl ether (MEHQ) as a stabilizer to prevent premature polymerization during transport.
This chemical is valued for its low-temperature performance and superior adhesion to diverse substrates, including plastics and metals. It serves as a key raw material in the CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers) sector for modern industrial applications.
APPLICATIONS
- Acrylic Emulsions: Primary component in water-based architectural paints for improved scrub resistance and gloss retention.
- Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA): Used to formulate high-tack tapes and labels requiring permanent bond strength and flexibility.
- Textile Finishing: Applied in fabric binders and leather coatings to enhance durability, water resistance, and soft-hand feel.
SAFETY & RISKS
Classified as a Flammable Liquid and Skin Sensitizer. Highly irritating to eyes and respiratory system; mandate the use of chemical-resistant gloves, organic vapor respirators, and splash goggles.
