Ethyl Acrylate
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Ethyl Acrylate is a reactive Monomer used in the production of high-quality polymers and resins. It is typically supplied in Industrial Grade with a purity of 99.5% min and is inhibited with MEHQ to prevent premature polymerization.
This colorless, volatile liquid is characterized by its Highly Flammable nature and sharp, pungent odor. It serves as a critical building block for aqueous dispersions, acrylic elastomers, and specialty industrial coatings that require weather resistance.
The chemical’s ability to copolymerize with various monomers allows for the customization of resin hardness and flexibility. Its role as a Chemical Intermediate is vital for the development of modern paints, textile finishes, and high-performance adhesives.
APPLICATIONS
- Emulsion Polymers: Key component in the manufacturing of water-based paints, coatings, and binders for construction applications.
- Textile Finishing: Used to produce finishes that improve the durability, hand-feel, and water resistance of various fabrics.
- Adhesive Manufacturing: Utilized in the synthesis of pressure-sensitive adhesives and high-performance industrial glues.
SAFETY & RISKS
Classified as Highly Flammable and a Skin Sensitizer (Category 1). Handling requires Explosion-Proof Equipment and PPE such as Vapor Respirators and Butyl Rubber Gloves.
