Sodium Vinylsulfonate (SVS) is a highly reactive anionic monomer primarily used in the synthesis of water-soluble polymers. Available as a 25% Aqueous Solution, it imparts excellent thermal stability and ionic conductivity to finished polymer systems.

This monomer is a critical component in the production of dispersants and scale inhibitors for cooling water circuits. It provides superior leveling and brightening effects when used as an additive in nickel electroplating baths.

The sulfonate group of SVS ensures high solubility and hydrophilicity, making it a preferred choice for the CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers) industry. It copolymerizes readily with acrylic acid and acrylamide for tailored performance.

Sodium Vinylsulfonate
  • Polymer Synthesis: Used to produce scale inhibitors, flocculants, and drilling fluid additives with high salt tolerance.
  • Electroplating: Acts as a primary brightener and leveling agent in electrolytic nickel and chrome plating processes.
  • Adhesives & Coatings: Enhances the mechanical strength and moisture resistance of emulsion polymers in construction chemicals.

Classified as an Irritant to skin and eyes. Wear Chemical Safety Goggles, Gloves, and use in areas with Local Exhaust Ventilation.
