Used in the production of melamine, guanidine, pharmaceuticals, and epoxy resin curing agents. In fertilizers, it serves as a nitrification inhibitor, reducing nitrogen losses in soil. Also used in flame retardants, dyestuffs, and water treatment formulations.

Low toxicity but may cause mild irritation upon dust exposure. Avoid contact with oxidizers and moisture to maintain purity.
