Ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate [(NH₄)₆Mo₇O₂₄·4H₂O] is a white crystalline compound widely used as a source of molybdenum in industrial and laboratory applications. It dissolves readily in water to provide molybdate ions for catalysis and corrosion inhibition.

Ammonium Heptamolybdate

Used in catalyst manufacturing for petroleum refining, pigment formulations, ceramics, and glass. It also functions as a corrosion inhibitor in cooling water systems and as a micronutrient in fertilizers. In analytical chemistry, it serves as a reagent for phosphate and lead determination.

Low acute toxicity but may cause irritation to eyes and respiratory tract. Avoid generation of airborne dust and direct skin contact. Environmental discharge should be minimized due to metal ion content.
