Vitamin E alpha-tocopherol is a light yellow oily liquid or powder with formula C29H50O2 and molecular weight 430.71 g/mol. Density 0.95 g/cm³, boiling point 200°C (decomposes), soluble in fats and organics, insoluble in water; antioxidant vitamin.

Used as antioxidant in foods and cosmetics; supplement for skin and heart health; in pharmaceuticals for deficiency treatment; in feed for animals; in plastics as stabilizer.
Low toxicity, GRAS; may cause skin irritation or gastrointestinal upset in high doses. Combustible; avoid strong oxidizers. Use PPE; stable but oxidizes in air.
