It has a density greater than water, is highly soluble in water, and appears as a powder or granules. Insoluble in organic solvents, it decomposes on heating, releasing selenium oxides. Typically in 25kg polypropylene bags with polyethylene liners or fiber drums; store in cool, dry areas; rinse containers for recycling or puncture for sanitary landfill disposal per regulations.
