Sodium Molybdate Dihydrate
Sodium molybdate dihydrate, formula Na2MoO4·2H2O, is a white crystalline powder with molecular weight 241.95 g/mol. It has a density of 2.37 g/mL, melting point 100°C (decomposes), and is highly soluble in water. Bulk density 1000-1400 kg/m³; stable under ambient conditions, produced by dissolving molybdenum trioxide in sodium hydroxide.
Sodium Molybdate Dihydrate
Used as a molybdenum source in fertilizers to correct deficiencies, corrosion inhibitors in water treatment, catalysts in chemical synthesis, and in electrode materials for batteries; also in animal feed and metal finishing processes.
Moderate toxicity; irritates eyes, skin, and respiratory system upon contact or inhalation. Incompatible with strong reducers; releases molybdenum oxides on combustion. Not combustible; Hazard Class not specified, use PPE and ventilation.
In 25kg bags or drums; store at 5-30°C in tightly sealed containers; rinse triply for recycling or puncture for disposal in landfills.
