Sodium hyaluronate, the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, is a white powder with formula (C14H20NNaO11)n and variable high molecular weight. Highly hygroscopic, soluble in water forming viscous solutions, insoluble in organics; stable for 3 years in sealed containers, produced from microbial fermentation or extraction.

Used in cosmetics as a humectant and skin conditioner, pharmaceuticals for joint injections and eye surgery, drug delivery systems for cancer and ophthalmology, and in food as a stabilizer.
Low toxicity; may irritate eyes or skin upon contact, avoid dust inhalation or mist. Stable under ambient conditions; incompatible with strong oxidizers. Use PPE; no major environmental concerns.
In tightly sealed containers, 25kg drums or bags; store cool and dry; avoid contact with skin during handling; dispose rinsed packaging via recycling.
