Calcium pantothenate, the calcium salt of pantothenic acid, is a white hygroscopic powder with formula C18H32CaN2O10 and molecular weight 476.53 g/mol. It has a density of about 1.2 g/cm³, melting point 195-196°C (decomposes), and is highly soluble in water (350 g/L), slightly soluble in ethanol. Odorless with bitter taste, it is stable but sensitive to moisture and heat, produced by reaction of pantothenic acid with calcium hydroxide.

Used as vitamin B5 supplement in pharmaceuticals for deficiency treatment and wound healing; in food fortification for baked goods and beverages; in cosmetics for hair and skin conditioning; in animal feed for growth promotion; in chemical synthesis as intermediate; in nutritional bars for energy metabolism.

Low toxicity, GRAS status; may cause gastrointestinal upset in high doses or allergic reactions. Irritates eyes and skin; avoid dust inhalation. Stable but hygroscopic; use PPE, ventilate areas. No major hazards but monitor for sensitivities in prolonged use.
