Cyclohexylamine (CHA)
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Cyclohexylamine (CHA) is a versatile Technical Grade primary amine utilized extensively as a corrosion inhibitor and chemical intermediate. With a 99% min purity, it provides effective pH control and metal surface protection in steam-generating systems.
This flammable, colorless-to-yellow liquid possesses a distinct fishy odor and is completely miscible with water. In boiler water treatment, it acts as a neutralizing amine, preventing carbonic acid corrosion in condensate lines.
CHA is also a vital building block in the synthesis of artificial sweeteners, rubber accelerators, and herbicides. Its high reactivity makes it indispensable for the production of various agrochemicals and industrial surfactants.
APPLICATIONS
• Water Treatment: Functions as a volatile corrosion inhibitor in high-pressure boilers and steam condensate systems.
• Agrochemical Synthesis: Used as an intermediate in the production of herbicides such as Hexazinone.
• Rubber Chemicals: Employed in the manufacture of sulfenamide accelerators for the tire industry.
SAFETY & RISKS
Classified as Flammable Liquid 3, Acute Tox 3, and Skin Corr 1B. Highly corrosive; handle with Chemical Suits, Full-Face Respirators, and Viton Gloves.
