Dibutyltin Dilaurate
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Dibutyltin Dilaurate is a high-efficiency organotin compound widely utilized as a catalyst for polyurethane production and silanol condensation. It is typically supplied in Technical Grade to ensure optimal reactivity in moisture-cured systems and industrial coatings.
This liquid additive is valued for its excellent thermal stability and ability to accelerate the gelation process in flexible and rigid foams. It acts as a primary curing agent in RTV silicone formulations, providing precise control over setting times and final structural integrity.
In the plastics industry, it functions as a secondary heat stabilizer for PVC, preventing degradation during high-temperature extrusion. Its high purity levels facilitate the production of clear, non-yellowing resins and high-performance automotive sealants.
APPLICATIONS
- Polyurethane Catalysis: Accelerates the reaction between polyols and isocyanates in the production of foams, elastomers, and high-performance coatings.
- Silicone Crosslinking: Serves as a vital catalyst for curing room-temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubbers used in construction sealants.
- PVC Stabilization: Enhances the heat resistance of polyvinyl chloride during processing, ensuring color retention and mechanical strength in finished products.
SAFETY & RISKS
Classified as a Reproductive Toxicant (Cat 1B) and causing Skin Sensitization. It poses a Serious Eye Damage risk and is Toxic to Aquatic Life. Always wear PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and respiratory protection.
