Diethyl Ether
Diethyl ether (C₄H₁₀O) is a highly volatile, flammable, and colorless liquid with a characteristic sweet odor. It is an excellent nonpolar solvent due to its low boiling point and miscibility with many organic liquids.
Diethyl Ether
Used in laboratories and industry as a solvent for fats, waxes, and resins, as well as a starting fluid for engines. It also serves as a reaction medium in Grignard synthesis and pharmaceutical extractions. Historically, it functioned as a general anesthetic.
Extremely flammable and forms explosive peroxides upon prolonged air exposure. Avoid heat, sparks, and static discharge. Store under nitrogen with stabilizers.
Supplied in 140–160 kg metal drums or sealed containers. Store cool, dry, and well-ventilated, away from light and ignition sources.
