TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Ethylhexyl Dimethyl PABA, commonly known as Padimate O, is an organic UV-B filter. It is a pale yellow, viscous liquid that is insoluble in water but highly soluble in cosmetic oils.
This Cosmetic Grade active ingredient is highly effective at absorbing ultraviolet radiation in the 290-315 nm range. It provides excellent photostability and helps prevent erythema (sunburn) in topical applications.
Due to its oil solubility, it is easily incorporated into sunscreens, lip balms, and anti-aging creams. It is valued for its emollient properties, which contribute to the skin-feel of finished cosmetic products.
APPLICATIONS
- Sunscreens: Primary or secondary UV-B absorber in sun protection factor (SPF) formulations.
- Daily Moisturizers: Added to day creams to provide basic protection against incidental UV exposure.
- Hair Care: Used in UV-protective hair sprays and leave-in conditioners to prevent color fading.
SAFETY & RISKS
Generally safe for topical use; however, it is a known Skin Sensitizer for certain individuals. Wear nitrile gloves during bulk handling to avoid direct concentrated contact.
