Fluroxypyr (ISO common name) is an off-white to tan crystalline solid with the formula C7H5Cl2FN2O3 and molecular weight 255.03 g/mol. Technical grade purity is typically ≥97%. It has low water solubility (0.09 g/L at 20 °C), is soluble in acetone and methanol, and has a melting point of 164–166 °C. It is a pyridine carboxylic acid herbicide that acts as a synthetic auxin, absorbed by leaves and roots, and translocated to meristematic tissues causing uncontrolled growth in broadleaf weeds.

Fluroxypyr

Used as a selective post-emergence herbicide for control of broadleaf weeds in small-grain cereals, maize, pastures, rangeland, orchards, vineyards, turf, and non-crop areas; effective against Galium, Kochia, Convolvulus, and many woody species; often tank-mixed with MCPA, 2,4-D, or clopyralid for broader spectrum; also used in forestry and industrial vegetation management.

Low acute toxicity (LD50 oral rat >5000 mg/kg, dermal >2000 mg/kg); mild skin/eye irritant (H315, H319); not classified as carcinogen, mutagen, or reproductive toxin by EPA/EU. Avoid dust inhalation; stable under normal conditions but decomposes in strong alkali. Use PPE (gloves, goggles, respirator if dusty); ventilate areas; no bioaccumulation, moderate aquatic toxicity.

Technical material supplied in 25 kg fiber drums or 500 kg big bags with inner liners; formulated products in 10-20 L coex HDPE jerricans or 200 L drums; store in cool, dry, ventilated areas away from food/feedstuffs.
