Methyl Acrylate
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Methyl Acrylate is a versatile Acrylic Monomer essential for the production of polyacrylate fibers and thermoplastic coatings. It is provided in Industrial Grade at 99% Purity, typically stabilized with hydroquinone monomethyl ether (MEHQ).
This colorless liquid is highly reactive and serves as a primary Chemical Building Block for high-molecular-weight polymers. It provides superior clarity, UV stability, and adhesion, making it ideal for the synthesis of advanced acrylic elastomers.
Its fast polymerization rate and compatibility with other monomers make it a preferred choice for the manufacture of Acrylic Fibers and carpets. The resulting polymers exhibit excellent resistance to light and oxidative degradation in industrial environments.
APPLICATIONS
- Acrylic Fiber Synthesis: Co-polymerized with acrylonitrile to produce synthetic fibers used in clothing, blankets, and upholstery.
- Industrial Coatings: Used in the formulation of clear-coat finishes and thermoplastic resins for automotive and architectural use.
- Pharmaceutical Intermediates: Acts as a reactive reagent in the synthesis of specialized chemical intermediates and drug delivery systems.
SAFETY & RISKS
Classified as Highly Flammable and Toxic by Inhalation. Safe handling involves Flame-Arrestors and PPE including Safety Shields, Chemical Gloves, and Organic Vapor Masks.
