N-propyl Acetate is a colorless, volatile ester solvent renowned for its ability to dissolve cellulose nitrate, chlorinated rubber, and heat-reactive phenolics. It is commonly supplied in high-purity industrial grades, serving as a critical component in performance coatings and printing inks.

Exhibiting a medium evaporation rate and excellent leveling properties, this chemical promotes flow and consistency in flexographic and rotogravure ink formulations. Its mild, fruity odor and moderate volatility make it a preferred choice over harsher solvents in lacquers and thinners.

As a biodegradable solvent with good dilution capacity, it is frequently utilized as a safer substitute for ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons in manufacturing. It ensures optimal viscosity control and fast drying times in wood finishes and architectural coatings.

N-propyl Acetate

  • Wood Coatings & Lacquers:Acts as an active solvent for nitrocellulose and urethane systems, ensuring smooth films and preventing blushing in high-humidity conditions.
  • Printing Inks: Used extensively in flexographic and gravure inks to control drying rates and improve the flow of the ink on paper and plastic substrates.
  •  Industrial Adhesives: Functions as a process solvent in the formulation of pressure-sensitive adhesives and synthetic resin bonding agents.

Classified as a Highly Flammable Liquid and vapor, N-propyl Acetate must be stored in cool, well-ventilated areas away from sparks and static discharge. It is an eye and skin irritant; operators should handle with solvent-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and organic vapor respirators to prevent overexposure.
