S-Adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) is a white hygroscopic powder with formula C15H22N6O5S and molecular weight 398.44 g/mol. Soluble in water, it decomposes in light and heat, pH acidic in solution, and is a key methyl donor in biological processes, produced biosynthetically or synthetically.
