Triethylene Glycol (TEG)
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
TEG is a Technical Grade liquid known for its high viscosity and hygroscopic properties. It serves as a vital dehydration agent in the natural gas industry, effectively removing water vapor from gas streams.
The chemical is characterized by its high boiling point and low volatility, making it an excellent solvent and plasticizer. It offers stable performance in demanding industrial environments, ensuring consistent moisture control.
As a commercial-grade glycol, it is also utilized in the production of polyester resins and specialized chemical intermediates. Its low toxicity profile compared to other glycols makes it suitable for various cleaning applications.
APPLICATIONS
- Natural Gas Dehydration: Removes moisture from gas to prevent hydrate formation and corrosion in pipelines.
- Solvent Systems: Used in the formulation of printing inks, textile dyes, and industrial cleaning compounds.
- Plasticizers: Acts as an intermediate in the production of plasticizers for safety glass and PVC materials.
SAFETY & RISKS
Generally considered Non-Hazardous under GHS but should be handled with Safety Glasses and General Protective Clothing to prevent skin contact.
