Barium Selenite is a specialized inorganic compound primarily utilized as a refining agent in high-end glass manufacturing. It is supplied as a Technical Grade white powder with high purity levels.

The material is critical for the decolorization of glass, where it effectively neutralizes the green color imparted by iron contaminants. Its high density and low solubility contribute to stable performance in glass melt furnaces.

Commercially, it is preferred in the production of optical glass and decorative crystals for its ability to produce clear, colorless results. It maintains a stable chemical structure even under extreme industrial heating conditions.

Barium Selenite

  • Glass Decolorization: Neutralizes iron impurities to produce high-clarity window and container glass.
  • Ceramic Glazes: Used as a component in specialty glazes to achieve specific aesthetic and structural properties.
  • Chemical Intermediate: Serves as a precursor in the synthesis of other barium-selenium complex compounds.

Classified as Highly Toxic (Category 2) if swallowed or inhaled. Strict PPE including Nitrile Gloves and Full-Face Respirators is mandatory; avoid release to the environment.

Standard packaging includes 25 kg steel drums and moisture-sealed plastic-lined bags.
