2-Butyloctyl Salicylate is a specialized cosmetic ester primarily utilized as a high-performance UV filter stabilizer and solvent. This Cosmetic Grade liquid is renowned for its ability to increase the photostability of Avobenzone, a common but unstable sunscreen agent.
It functions as an excellent emollient, providing a non-greasy, elegant skin feel in sun care and daily moisturizing formulations. Its high refractive index contributes to the aesthetic appeal and spreadability of topical sun protection products.
Beyond stabilization, it serves as a highly effective dispersing agent for inorganic UV filters like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. It is a low-odor, colorless liquid that integrates seamlessly into premium skincare lines without affecting the final fragrance profile.
