Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) is a highly effective oxidizing biocide and disinfectant. Due to its instability as a gas, it is typically generated on-site or supplied as stabilized solutions or precursor kits.

Unlike chlorine, ClO2 does not form harmful chlorinated by-products like THMs. It remains a powerful broad-spectrum antimicrobial across a wide pH range, effectively eliminating bacteria, viruses, and algae.

This Technical Grade oxidant is widely used for its ability to penetrate biofilms in water systems. It is recognized for its high selectivity, reacting primarily with organic contaminants rather than the water itself.

Chlorine Dioxide
  • Potable Water Treatment: Disinfection of municipal water supplies without affecting taste or odor.
  • Food Processing: Used for washing fruits and vegetables and disinfecting food-contact surfaces.
  • Pulp Bleaching: Primary agent in Elemental Chlorine-Free (ECF) bleaching of wood pulp for paper.

Strong oxidant; classified as Acute Toxicity 2 (Inhalation) and Skin Corrosion 1B. Use respirators and chemical-resistant suits. Highly explosive as a concentrated gas.

Two-part precursor kits (Sodium Chlorite/Acid) or stabilized aqueous solutions in specialized containers.
