Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a colorless liquid with formula H2O2 and molecular weight 34.01 g/mol. It has a density of 1.11 g/cm³ (30% solution), boiling point 150.2°C (decomposes), melting point -0.43°C, and is miscible with water. It has a bitter taste, acts as an oxidizer, and is produced by anthraquinone process; available in concentrations like 3-50%, unstable and decomposes to water and oxygen.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Used as bleach in textiles and paper; disinfectant in water treatment and healthcare; oxidizer in chemical synthesis and rocket fuel; in cosmetics for hair lightening; in food processing for aseptic packaging; in environmental remediation for pollutant degradation.
Strong oxidizer, causes burns to skin and eyes; inhalation irritates lungs. Decomposes violently with catalysts or heat releasing oxygen; avoid organics and metals. Stable with stabilizers; Hazard Class 5.1 (oxidizer) and 8 (corrosive); use PPE, ventilate.
Supplied in 30-65kg plastic drums or IBC totes; store in cool, ventilated places away from sunlight per Sigma-Aldrich recommendations.
