Light soda ash, or sodium carbonate light, is a white granular powder with formula Na2CO3 and molecular weight 105.99 g/mol. It has a density of 0.5-0.6 g/cm³, melting point 851°C, highly soluble in water (215 g/L at 20°C), alkaline pH 11.6; hygroscopic, produced by Solvay process, lighter than dense grade for better dissolution.

Light Soda Ash

Used in glass manufacturing for soda-lime glass; detergents as builders; water treatment for softening; chemicals for sodium compounds; paper production for pulping; in metallurgy for fluxing.

Irritates eyes, skin, and respiratory tract; harmful if swallowed causing gastrointestinal issues. Avoid acids releasing CO2; non-combustible but decomposes at high heat. Stable; Hazard Class not specified; use PPE, ventilate dusty areas.
