Sodium cyclamate, also known as sodium N-cyclohexylsulfamate, is a white crystalline powder with formula C6H12NNaO3S and molecular weight 201.22 g/mol. It is highly soluble in water (up to 200 g/L at 20°C), odorless with a sweet taste 30 times that of sucrose, pH 5.5-7.5 in solution. Hygroscopic, stable under normal conditions; produced by sulfonating cyclohexylamine with sodium hydroxide. Used as a non-nutritive sweetener but restricted in some regions.

Sodium Cyclamate

Primarily used as a sweetener in low-calorie foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics; enhances flavor in tabletop sweeteners, baked goods, and dairy products; also in animal feeds and tobacco.

May cause cancer; banned in US per FDA; irritant to eyes, skin, respiratory tract; avoid ingestion, inhalation. Not flammable but incompatible with strong oxidizers; use PPE.

Packaged in 25kg fiber drums or polypropylene bags with PE liners; rinse containers for recycling or dispose in sanitary landfills per regulations.
