Tara gum is a white to off-white powder from Caesalpinia spinosa seeds, with formula (C6H10O5)n (galactomannan) and high molecular weight. It has density 0.5-0.8 g/cm³, highly soluble in water forming viscous solutions, insoluble in organics; stable, non-ionic, and resistant to heat/acids.

Tara Gum

Used as thickener and stabilizer in food (ice cream, sauces, dairy); in cosmetics for creams and lotions; in pharmaceuticals as binder; in paper and textiles for sizing; and in oil drilling as viscosifier.

GRAS by FDA; low toxicity but dust may irritate eyes/respiratory tract. Stable, resistant to ignition; avoid strong oxidizers. No known hazards in normal use; use PPE for handling.

In 25kg multi-wall paper bags or containers; store in dry areas to prevent caking.
