Tributyl Phosphate is a versatile Technical Grade organophosphorus compound used as a solvent and extractant. It is a colorless, odorless liquid with excellent chemical stability and low volatility.

In the mining industry, it is the primary extractant for the separation and purification of rare earth metals and uranium. It serves as a high-efficiency solvent for nitrocellulose, lacquers, and resins.

As an Anti-foaming agent, it is used in industrial paints, glues, and drilling muds to eliminate persistent foam. It also functions as a Plasticizer, improving the flexibility of vinyl resins and synthetic rubbers.

Tributyl Phosphate (TBP)
  • Metal Extraction: Solvent extraction of rare earth elements, uranium, and plutonium from acidic leach solutions.
  • Defoamer for Coatings: Used in water-based paints and adhesives to ensure a smooth, bubble-free application.
  • Aviation Hydraulic Fluids: Key component in high-performance hydraulic fluids for the aerospace industry.

Classified as Harmful if Swallowed (Category 4) and a Suspected Carcinogen (Category 2). Handle with Vapor Respirators, Safety Goggles, and Nitrile Gloves.
