Sodium molybdate, typically as dihydrate, is a white crystalline powder with formula Na2MoO4·2H2O and molecular weight 241.95 g/mol. Density 2.7 g/cm³, melting point 687°C (anhydrous); highly soluble in water (840 g/L at 20°C), insoluble in organics. Hygroscopic, pH 9-10 in solution; produced by dissolving molybdenum trioxide in sodium hydroxide.

Sodium Molybdate

Used in fertilizers for molybdenum deficiency, corrosion inhibitors, catalysts, electrode materials in batteries, and in water treatment systems.

Moderate toxicity; irritates eyes and skin, inhalation risk low. Avoid ingestion; use PPE. Non-flammable but incompatible with strong reducers.

In 25kg bags or drums with polyethylene liners; rinse for recycling or puncture for disposal in landfills per guidelines.
