Sodium sulfate, also known as Glauber’s salt, is a white crystalline solid with formula Na2SO4 and molecular weight 142.04 g/mol. Density 2.66 g/cm³, melting point 884°C; highly soluble in water (up to 139 g/L at 20°C), hygroscopic with neutral pH. Produced from natural deposits or as a byproduct of chemical processes.
Sodium Sulfate
Used in detergents as fillers, glass manufacturing, paper pulping, textiles dyeing, water treatment, and as a laxative in pharmaceuticals.
Low toxicity but dust irritates eyes, skin, respiratory tract; ingestion causes gastrointestinal upset. Non-flammable; avoid strong acids; use PPE.
In 25kg or 50kg bags with liners; store dry; rinse for recycling or dispose in landfills.
