Dioctyl Fumarate
Dioctyl fumarate, also known as bis(2-ethylhexyl) fumarate, is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with formula C20H36O4 and molecular weight 340.50 g/mol. Density 0.94 g/cm³, boiling point 211-220°C at 10 mmHg, flash point >110°C, refractive index 1.450-1.452. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents; odorless, stable under normal conditions, produced by esterification of fumaric acid with 2-ethylhexanol; used as plasticizer in polymers.
Dioctyl Fumarate
Used as co-monomer in unsaturated polyester resins for reinforced plastics like boats and roofing; in adhesives and coatings for flexibility; in lubricants as viscosity modifier; in personal care for emollients; in chemical synthesis for polymers; in research for material science.
Low toxicity by ingestion and skin contact; mild irritant to eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. Combustible when heated; avoid oxidizing materials. Stable; no major hazards but use PPE, ventilate; monitor for skin sensitization in prolonged exposure.
Supplied in 200kg polyethylene drums or 25kg plastic pails; store in cool, dry, ventilated areas away from ignition sources per ChemicalBook MSDS.
