Tylosin is a bacteriostatic macrolide antibiotic and feed additive used in veterinary medicine. It has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive organisms and a limited range of Gram-negative organisms. A veterinary antibacterial used to treat sensitive mycoplasma organisms which are involved in causing chronic respiratory disease in chickens and infectious sinusitis in turkeys. It is also effective in treating swine dysentery caused by Serpulina hyodysenteriae and arthritis caused by Mycoplasma hyosynoviae.
