Corn Starch is a naturally derived polymeric carbohydrate extracted from the endosperm of maize. It is a fundamental thickening agent and texturizer used extensively to modify the rheology of food products and industrial adhesive formulations.

This biopolymer is prized for its high purity, neutral taste, and excellent film-forming capabilities. In industrial settings, it acts as a sustainable binder for paper coating and textile sizing, enhancing surface smoothness and tensile strength.

Available in native and modified forms, it provides controlled viscosity and stability under varying temperature and pH conditions. It is also an essential disintegrant in pharmaceutical tableting and a biodegradable filler in bioplastics.

Corn Starch

  • Food Processing: Widely used as a thickener in sauces, soups, and puddings, and as an anti-caking agent in powdered sugar and seasonings.
  • Paper Manufacturing: Applied as a surface sizing agent to improve the printability, stiffness, and internal bond strength of paper products.
  • Textile Finishing: Used in warp sizing to protect yarns from abrasion during weaving and as a stiffening agent for high-quality fabrics.

Classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe). High concentrations of airborne starch dust can be a combustible dust hazard; maintain proper housekeeping and use dust extraction.
