Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (CAS 2235-54-3) is a high-foaming anionic surfactant supplied as a 28% or 70% aqueous solution, a yellow viscous liquid in Cosmetic Grade, that delivers flash foam and performs well in slightly acidic formulations, serving as a primary foaming agent in shampoos and body washes. It is known for its excellent flash foam and cleaning efficiency.
Unlike sodium-based sulfates, ALS performs exceptionally well at lower pH levels, making it ideal for specialized shampoos. It provides a rich, stable lather and effectively emulsifies oils and soils.
This Cosmetic Grade surfactant is preferred in formulations where a slightly acidic profile is desired for skin and hair compatibility. It is easily thickened with amides or salts for varied viscosity needs.
