Potassium iodide is a white crystalline solid, odorless and highly soluble in water, ethanol, and glycerin. It is hygroscopic and releases iodine upon exposure to light or oxidants.
Potassium Iodide
Used in pharmaceuticals as an expectorant, radiation-blocking agent, and thyroid medication. In photography and analytical chemistry, it’s used for iodometric titrations. Also applied in animal feed fortification and electroplating baths.
Non-toxic in regulated use; excessive intake may disturb thyroid function. Protect from light and air exposure.
