Activated Carbon (CAS 64365-11-3) is a high-surface-area adsorbent derived from coconut shell, coal or wood by steam or chemical activation, supplied as a black, light powder free from grittiness and used for water and air purification, solvent recovery, gold extraction and decolorization. Its microporous structure enables efficient removal of organics, chlorine, and other impurities from gases and liquids.

Applications
Used extensively in water and air purification, solvent recovery, gold extraction, and decolorization of sugar and pharmaceuticals. It also functions as a catalyst support and odor control medium.
Safety & Risks
Fine carbon dust is combustible; avoid sparks and open flames. Inhalation of dust can irritate respiratory passages. Ensure process ventilation and proper grounding of handling equipment.
Packaging
Supplied in 20–25 kg polyethylene-lined kraft bags or FIBCs. Store in cool, dry, and well-ventilated areas; protect from moisture to maintain adsorption efficiency.
