Diethyl Ether (CAS 60-29-7) is a highly volatile, flammable, colorless ether-class solvent with a characteristic sweet odor, miscible with many organic liquids, used as a nonpolar solvent for fats, waxes and resins, as a reaction medium in Grignard synthesis and pharmaceutical extractions, and historically as a general anesthetic. It is an excellent nonpolar solvent due to its low boiling point and miscibility with many organic liquids.
