Potassium Permanganate (CAS 7722-64-7) is a dark purple crystalline oxidizing agent with strong disinfectant and bleaching capabilities that dissolves in water to give violet solutions, and it serves water purification, disinfection and odor control as well as antiseptic uses in pharmaceuticals. It is soluble in water, producing violet-colored solutions with high redox potential.
