Propylparaben (CAS 94-13-3) is a wide-spectrum preservative ester of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, supplied as a white crystalline powder that inhibits microbial growth and is particularly effective against yeasts and molds in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food formulations. This USP/NF Grade crystalline powder is preferred for its stability and low toxicity. It remains active over a broad pH range, ensuring long-term shelf-life stability. As a Cosmetic Grade antimicrobial, it is often used in combination with other paraben esters. Its low solubility is managed through oil-phase incorporation or specific salt formation.
