Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate, better known as MGDA-Na3 or trisodium methylglycine diacetate, is a white to off-white powder or granule with the formula C7H8NNa3O6 and a molecular weight of 271.11 g/mol. It dissolves readily in water, giving a clear alkaline solution with a pH of 10-12.

It is a readily biodegradable chelating agent developed as an eco-friendly alternative to EDTA and phosphates, binding calcium, magnesium, and transition-metal ions with high stability across a broad pH range.

Main applications include automatic dishwashing detergents, industrial and institutional cleaners, and water treatment; a Food Grade quality is available for use in washing and processing aids. It is typically offered as a powder or 40% solution.

Applications
