Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate (CAS 164462-16-2), or trisodium methylglycine diacetate, is a readily biodegradable chelating agent supplied as a white to off-white powder or granule that dissolves in water and binds calcium, magnesium and transition-metal ions as an alternative to EDTA and phosphates in detergents, industrial cleaners and water treatment. It dissolves readily in water, giving a clear alkaline solution with a pH of 10-12.
It is a readily biodegradable chelating agent developed as an eco-friendly alternative to EDTA and phosphates, binding calcium, magnesium, and transition-metal ions with high stability across a broad pH range.
Main applications include automatic dishwashing detergents, industrial and institutional cleaners, and water treatment; a Food Grade quality is available for use in washing and processing aids. It is typically offered as a powder or 40% solution.
