Strontium peroxide is a light-colored solid with formula SrO2 and molecular weight 119.62 g/mol. It has a density of 4.56 g/cm³, decomposes above 500°C releasing oxygen, and is insoluble in water but reacts with acids. Oxidizer, produced by reacting strontium hydroxide with hydrogen peroxide.

Applications

Used in pyrotechnics for red flares, bleaching agents, and as an oxidizer in explosives; also in tracers and fireworks.

Safety & Risks

Strong oxidizer, fire risk with combustibles; irritates skin and eyes. Avoid water which causes violent reactions; Hazard Class 5.1.

Packaging

In 25kg drums with liners; store away from heat; rinse triply for recycling or incinerate safely.
