Applications
Commonly applied in stainless-steel pickling, glass frosting, and masonry cleaning formulations. In the oilfield sector, it serves as an acidizing additive that promotes dissolution of siliceous scales. It is also an intermediate in fluorine compound synthesis.
Safety & Risks
Highly corrosive and toxic; contact causes severe burns and systemic fluoride poisoning. Generates HF vapors in moisture. Handle only with HF-resistant equipment and PPE, including gloves, face shield, and apron; calcium gluconate gel must be available on-site.
Packaging
Supplied in acid-resistant HDPE drums or plastic-lined steel containers. Store in ventilated, cool areas isolated from bases and oxidizers. Keep containers tightly closed and dry.
