Neodymium Sulfate Octahydrate (Nd₂(SO₄)₃·8H₂O; MW 720.79) is a pink crystalline rare earth salt with a density of 2.85 g/cm³, moderately soluble in cold water (80 g/L at 20°C) and sparingly soluble in hot water. It is commercially available in purities from 2N to 4N on a rare earth oxide basis (Nd₂O₃/TREO ≥ 99.9 %; TREO ≥ 99 %) and serves as a primary water-soluble neodymium source for downstream rare earth processing.
The octahydrate form is the standard hydrated phase; the related anhydrous form (CAS 10101-95-8) is also available for applications requiring reduced moisture content. SoleChem supplies this material to glass, catalyst, and rare earth separation industries.

Applications
- Building & Construction: Used in glass colorant formulations to impart characteristic violet-to-purple tints in architectural and specialty glass products.
- Building & Construction: Incorporated into glass-polishing and surface-treatment processes where a controlled neodymium ion source is required.
- Oil, Gas & Energy: Functions as a catalyst precursor or dopant in refining and petrochemical catalyst systems requiring rare earth promotion.
- Oil, Gas & Energy: Serves as an intermediate in rare earth separation circuits, where its defined solubility profile facilitates selective precipitation and purification steps.
Safety & Risks
Not classified as hazardous under GHS. Handle as a general laboratory/industrial chemical; avoid dust generation and contact with eyes and skin. Store in a cool, dry location in sealed containers away from moisture.
Packaging
Typically supplied in 1–5 kg sealed bags for high-purity lots and 25 kg fiber drums for technical-grade quantities. Store sealed, away from moisture.
