Calcium oxide, also known as quicklime, is a white, caustic, and hygroscopic solid produced by calcination of limestone. It reacts exothermically with water to form calcium hydroxide.

Applications

Used in steelmaking, construction, water treatment, and flue gas desulfurization. Also applied as a pH regulator and drying agent in chemical industries.

Corrosive and generates heat upon hydration; handle with gloves and eye protection. Avoid contact with moisture.

Supplied in 25 kg bags or bulk silos. Store dry, airtight, and away from acids.
