Light Soda Ash (CAS 497-19-8), also known as sodium carbonate light, is an inorganic alkaline salt supplied as a white granular, odorless powder that is finer than the dense grade and used in glass manufacturing, detergents, water softening, paper pulping and metallurgy. It has a density of 0.5-0.6 g/cm³, melting point 851°C, highly soluble in water (215 g/L at 20°C), alkaline pH 11.6; hygroscopic, produced by Solvay process, lighter than dense grade for better dissolution.
