Sodium Thiocyanate (CAS 540-72-7) is an inorganic sodium salt of thiocyanic acid, supplied as a white crystalline powder, and is used in fiber spinning, chemical analysis, photography, pharmaceutical applications such as hypotensive agents, and herbicide formulations. Density 1.74 g/cm³, melting point 287°C; highly soluble in water (up to 1390 g/L at 21°C), deliquescent. Produced by reacting sodium cyanide with sulfur.
