Tagetes oil, also known as marigold oil, is a yellow to orange viscous liquid extracted from Tagetes erecta flowers, containing tagetone, limonene, and ocimene. It has a strong, herbaceous odor, density 0.85-0.95 g/mL, and is insoluble in water but soluble in alcohols and oils. Volatile, with refractive index 1.46-1.50; produced by steam distillation or solvent extraction.

Tagetes Oil

Used in perfumery for floral fragrances and aroma compositions; as a natural colorant and flavoring in food (e.g., tagetes meal); in cosmetics for antimicrobial properties; in agriculture as a nematicide; and in essential oil blends for therapeutic uses like anti-inflammatory.

May cause skin sensitization or irritation; avoid in pregnancy or with sensitive skin. Low toxicity but phototoxic potential; GRAS for food use by FDA. Incompatible with strong oxidizers; use PPE and ventilate areas to prevent inhalation.

Typically in 1-5kg aluminum bottles or 25kg drums; store in tightly sealed containers in cool, dark places to prevent oxidation.
