Vitamin B5 Pantothenic Acid (CAS 79-83-4; EC 201-229-0) is a water-soluble B-vitamin with formula C₉H₁₇NO₅ and molecular weight 219.23 g/mol. The free acid presents as a colourless oil to gel (mp <25 °C), density 1.266 g/cm³, freely soluble in water. The calcium salt form, calcium pantothenate, is the predominant commercial grade. Both forms are supplied at purity ≥98% to Food Grade (FCC) and Pharma Grade (USP, BP, Ph. Eur.) specifications.
